Users

Basic Data for Employee

In this exercise, the student gets acquainted with some basic data used later on in the course. All of the basic data mentioned in this exercise is delivered as a part of the basic setup of an HR training company. The exercise is only meant to allow the student to find and view existing data.

Employee Administration—Create Employee  

The most common problem in Employee Administration is when a new employee does not appear in the system. This can be due either to problems related to basic data setup in previous exercises or to the manner in which the system's cache memory works.

• The best way to avoid problems is if the students are encouraged to always connect the new employee to a position. If they do this, you usually avoid problems. Sometimes this isn’t enough, and some faults in the basic data set up in the position access definitions cause the employee to disappear. 
  • The students’ user is connected to a position that doesn’t have access to the new positions created by the student.
  • The new employee was connected to a position in a part of the position structure that the student's user doesn’t have access to, often to some other user's positions.

Employee Administration—Extended Exercise

• This optional exercise may be completed by students who have completed all previous exercises and who wish to learn advanced functionality related to employee administration.
• The focus of this exercise lies in adapting a company's organization and position structure, depending on the financial needs of the company.
• The organizational structure is adapted to a new demand from Accounting. For example, the new employee's time and costs should be posted to cost centers that are different from those used for existing employees. This makes it necessary to create new organization codes and new positions for the new employees created in this exercise.
• The concept of parallel position assignments is also introduced in this exercise. In addition, the student's User is connected to the new position as foreman, and at the same time he/she keeps the old position.
• The new employees should be temporarily employed. The way to define this is to choose Temporary as employment type when the employee period is registered.
