Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the
required data that is used in the exercises below.
- Open the Employee window.
- Select the employees listed in the table below. Ensure that these employees
have the details entered as given in the table.

Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to show how seniority
setup is created in order to measure the seniority of employees.

Seniority
Perform the following exercise to create a seniority setup which can measure
seniority of employees based on the employment information.
- Open the Seniority Setup window.
- Create a new record and enter SETUP1 as the seniority ID and 'Employment
Details' as the description.
- Go to the Employment Type tab and create a new record.
- Enter Full Time in the Employment Type field. Select value
from list.
- Save the information.
- Go to the Position tab and create a new record.
- Enter DEV in the Position ID field. Create another record and enter
DESIGN as the position ID.
- Save the information.
Perform the following exercise to create a seniority setup which can measure
seniority of employees based on the absence registered by employees.
- Open the Seniority Setup window.
- Create a new record and enter SETUP2 as the seniority ID and 'Work Experience'
as the description.
- Go to the Work Exp Break tab and create a new record.
- Enter Plus as the arithmetical sign in the relevant field.
- Enter Military Service as the work break type in the relevant field.
- Create another record. Enter Minus as the arithmetical sign and Parental
Leave as the work break type in the relevant fields.
- Save the information.
- Open the Seniority window.
- Populate or query to select an employee in the Employee ID field.
- Select the system date in the Date field.
- In the table of the window see how the seniority is calculated for the employee
according to each seniority setup.
- Select employees 1004, 1002, 1036 and 1012 to compare how the seniority
changes based on the employees employment type, work experience breaks etc.
