Querying Employee Data—Extended Exercises

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to find specific employees based on registered data.

Note! The windows included in this exercise are a selection of the available overviews. 

Employee Analysis

Windows:
Employee Analysis

  1. Open the query dialog box (F3).
  2. Enter '<25' in the Age field and press OK.
  3. Perform your own queries.
  4. Open the Group and Sum tab in the query dialog.
  5. Select Count from the Action list box for Emp No and press OK.
  6. Note the summary at the bottom of the window.
  7. Open the Group and Sum tab again.
  8. Enter the value '1' in the Group# field for Gender.
  9. Select Count from the Action list box for Gender
  10. Select Average from the Action list box for Age. Press OK.
  11. Perform you own group and sum queries.

Note! Because of the sensitive data available in this window, the Employee Analysis window is normally granted only to HR Coordinators and users with similar responsibilities. 

Employee Properties Information

Windows:
Employee Additional Information

  1. Open the query dialog box (F3).
  2. Enter CASH in the Value column for Property Value. This means that all employees, in the active company, whose advances are paid in cash as standard will appear in the window.

Persons without Employment

Windows:
Persons Without Employment

  1. Populate the window (F2).
  2. View the data. The window displays all persons who have a person ID but who have no employment (no employee number).
  3. Perform a query if you want a selection of the data.
