Aggregating Demand—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own Server ID in order to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other server id, you will compromise your exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated to your own server id.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up general server data for your server ID.

  2. Start the Demand Planning Server.

Create Demand

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to create a new demand for a part within your flow. Later in the main exercise, you will aggregate that demand and view its impact on the demand curve in the Demand Planning Client.

 

  1. Create a material requisition for a part that matches the site in your flow statement using the
  2. Select the material requisition line, right-click, and click Reserve. Then click OK to reserve material from stock.
  3. Select the material requisition line, right-click, and click Issue. Then click OK to issue material from stock.

Main Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to show you how to manually aggregate a new demand into the flow and view the changes in the Demand Planning Client.

Aggregating Demand

  1. Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar, point to Programs, and click Demand Plan Client to open the Demand Plan Client.
  2. Log on to the client using Appowner as both the user ID and the password. 
  3. In the Flow ID list, select the flow that includes the part for which you created a material requisition.
  4. In the Part No list, select the specified part.
  5. Drag the cursor over the demand point for the current period to read demand size up to today's date. Make a note of the quantity.
  6. On the File menu, click Exit.
  7. Double-click the Demand Plan Icon in the lower right corner of your screen to open the Demand Plan Server window.
  8. On the System menu, click Aggregate Daily to start the aggregation process.
  9. Open the Demand Plan Client and log on as you did in steps 1–2 above.
  10. In the Flow ID list, select the flow that includes the part for which you created a material requisition.
  11. Drag the cursor over the demand point for the current period. Read the demand size that the issued quantity has added to the demand curve for the current period.
