Setting Up Pallet Handling—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Inventory Locations

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for using the pallet functionality.

Windows:
Inventory Locations

  1. Open the Inventory Locations window and create inventory locations of the following types: Arrival, Quality Assurance, Picking, Pallet Delivery, and Pallet Buffer for both sites.

Inventory Part

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for using the pallet functionality.

  1. Create inventory part XX-58-401.

Inventory Part

Enabling Pallet Handling

  1. Open and populate the Parameters for Distribution and Manufacturing window.
  2. Verify that the Pallet Handling parameter is set to Yes.

Entering Pallet Data Per Inventory Part

  1. Open the Inventory Part window and search for part XX-58-401.
  2. Click the Pallets tab, then enable Pallet Handling and enter a Standard Putaway Qty of 10.
  3. Click the Putaway Zones tab and enter a zone containing locations of type pallet buffer as the highest ranked zone.
  4. Click the Pallet Refill tab and enter the following values:

Refill Point at Picking Location 0
Refill Picking Location by Quantity 10
Location Group Pallet Buffer
  1. Save the record.
