Cleaning Up Distribution Data—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Required Data

Entering Customer Orders

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the required data that is used in the exercises below.

  1. Create a number of customer orders in status Cancelled, Invoiced/Closed.
  2. Create a number of customer orders where one line is cancelled.

Entering Inventory Part Location Records

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the required data that is used in the exercises below.

  1. Make sure you have a part on an inventory location with zero quantity on hand.
  2. Make sure the part is currently not on a counting report.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand how the clean-up process works.

Cleaning Up Customer Orders

  1. Open the Cleanup of Customer Orders dialog box.
  2. Select the check boxes which will remove customer orders with headers and lines in status Cancelled, and customer order lines in status Invoiced/Closed.
  3. Specify that the orders should be deleted from your own site. The orders to be deleted should be created before today's date.

Note: It is extremely important that you make sure you are working within your own site. 

  1. Click OK.

Cleaning Up Inventory

  1. Open the Cleanup of Inventory dialog box.
  2. Specify that the inventory part location records should be deleted from your own site. The inventory part location records to be deleted should be older than one day.

Note: It is extremely important that you make sure you are working within your own site. 

  1. Click OK.
