Cash Flow Analysis—Basic Data and Requirements Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own company and with your own customer and supplier to maintain your data integrity. If you work with any other objects, your exercises will not function as intended and the data of other students might be affected. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own company.

Main Exercises


Currency Information

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the currency information that is used in cash flow analysis.

Windows:
Currency Rate Types

  1. Open the Currency Rate Types window.
  2. Populate the window (F2) to view the existing currency rate types.
  3. Enter a new currency rate type to use for cash flow analysis, as shown below.

  1. Save the changes (F12).
  2. Select the line you entered, and then right-click and click Currency Rates Per Currency Type. Enter the currency code and currency rate for the currencies that are used in your company.
  3. Save the changes (F12).


Cash Flow Sources

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to specify cash flow sources.

Windows:
Cash Flow Sources

  1. Open the Cash Flow Sources window.
  2. Perform a query (F3) or populate the window (F2) to view the existing sources.

Note: You will see both system-defined sources and manually entered ones.

  1. Create a new source (F5), e.g., payroll, and fill in the Source Id and Description fields.

Note: The source type is automatically set to Manual and cannot be changed.

  1. Save the changes (F12).


Cash Flow Types

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to specify cash flow types.

Windows:
Cash Flow Types

  1. Open the Cash Flow Types window.
  2. Perform a query (F3) or populate the window (F2) to view the existing types.
  3. Create a new cash flow type (F5), e.g., salaries, and fill in the Cash Flow Type Id and a Description fields.
  4. Save the changes (F12).

Note: Study the different cash flow types in order to understand them. These are used in reports and for selection.
