Creating Business Analytics Reports for Asset Design Information

Purpose: The purpose of these exercises are to familiarize you with how to create comprehensive reports for Asset Design Information for the purpose of analysis.

Menu Path: IFS Business Analytics

Creating a Bill of Material List in IFS/Business Analytics

  1. Open IFS Business Analytics. 
  2. Click Go to Design to switch from End User mode to Designer mode.
  3. Select Design Object Bill of Material found under the Asset Design node as the information source.
  4. Drag the display item Class from the Design Object dimension to cell A6.
  5. Drag the display items Object ID and Design Object Description from the Design Object dimension to cells A8 and B8 consecutively.
  6. Drag the display items Design Part ID and Design Part Description from the Design Part dimension to cells A9 and B9 consecutively.
  7. Drag the display items Planned Material Cost and Currency Code from the Project dimension to cells C7 and D7 consecutively.
  8. Drag the display item Purchase Part Quantity from Measure Items to cell D9.
  9. Drag the display items Manufacturer, Supplier and Dim/Quality from the Design Part dimension to cells E9, F9 and G9 consecutively.
  10. Enter the text Total Estimated Cost for this Query in A4.
  11. Enter the text Planned Material Cost for this Object in A7.
  12. Enter the text Project ID in C5.
  13. Enter the text P.QTY in D8.
  14. Enter the text Manufacturer ID in E8.
  15. Enter the text Supplier ID in F8.
  16. Enter the text DIM/Q in G8.
  17. Enter the formula =SUM(C7) in B4.
  18. Click Report Book and then click Parameters. Click New Parameter, create new parameters and save them as follows:For Plant

  1. Under Display Parameters, expand the Parameters and the ProjectID nodes, and drag the Parameter Value item to cell D5.
  2. Expand the Plant Name node, and and drag the Parameter Value item to cell A5.
  3. Select rows 5 to 9, click the Repeater tab and click New Design Row.
  4. Drag the Plant display item from the Plant dimension to the Display Item field on the Repeater tab.
  5. Enter 5 in the Start field.
  6. Enter 9 in the Stop field.
  7. Repeat steps 22-24 for the Object ID and Design Part ID display items entering the following start and stop values:

  8. Select rows 5-9 and click Filter Criteria.
  9. Drag the Plant display item from the Plant dimension to the Display Item field on the Filter Criteria tab.
  10. In the Operator field select = equals using the List of Values. 
  11. In the Condition field select the PlantName parameter using the List of Values.
  12. Repeat steps 27-29 for the Project and Design Object Class display items.
  13. Create a layout for the report as follows:
  1. Add Bill of Material List as the title for the report in C2.
  2. Select the area A1 to G4, fill color with Aqua and set the font color to White.
  3. Select the area A4 to G4, fill color with Orange, set the font color to White in A4 and Black in B4.
  4. Select the area A5 to G8, fill color with Dark Blue, set the font color to White and font size to 9.
  5. Select the area A9 to G9, fill color with Tan, set the font color to Black and font size to 8.
  6. Select D9 and add a left border.
  7. Select E9 and add a left border.
  8. Select F9 and add a left border.
  9. Select G9 and add a left and right border.
  10. Add the IFS logo to cell A4.
  1. Click Execute and then click OK. This will retrieve a list of objects and its Bill of Materials list. Note: To avoid an unnecessary warning when the report is executed, change the report book from DataMart to OnLine.

Creating a Valve List in IFS/Business Analytics

  1. Open IFS Business Analytics. 
  2. Click Go to Design.
  3. Select Design Object Specification found under the Asset Design node as the information source.
  4. Drag the display item Class from Design Objects to cell A5.
  5. Drag the display items Object ID and Design Object Description from the Design Object dimension to cells A8 and A9 consecutively.
  6. Enter the text Design Code in B5.
  7. Enter the text General Requirement in B6.
  8. Enter the text Size in C5.
  9. Enter the text Rating in C6.
  10. Enter the text Body/Bonnet in D5.
  11. Enter the text Closure Member in D6.
  12. Enter the text Operator in D7.
  13. Drag the Value (Alpha-Numeric) Light Item to B8, B9, C8, C9, D8, D9 and D10.
  14. Select B8 and drag and drop the Attribute Description Light Item to the Display Item field on the Filter Criteria tab. Select = equals in the Operator field and edit the Condition field to read as 'Design Code'.
  15. Repeat step 14 for the following cells, dragging and dropping the Attribute Description Light Item each time and entering field values as follows:

  1. Select rows 5 to 10, click the Repeater tab and click the New Design Row icon.
  2. Drag the Class Display Item from the Design Objects dimension to the Display Item field.
  3. Accept the values displayed in the Start and Stop fields.
  4. Drag the Object ID Display Item from the Design Objects dimension to the Display Item field.
  5. Enter 8 in the Start field.
  6. Enter 10 in the Stop field.
  7. Click the Filter Criteria tab and drag the Class Display Item from the Design Objects dimension to the Display Item field.
  8. Select the like operator in the Operator field using the List of Values.
  9. Select Valve in the Condition field using the List of Values.
  10. Click Execute. This should retrieve a list of objects and with its technical data. Note: To avoid an unnecessary warning when the report is executed, change the report book from DataMart to OnLine.
  11. Click Go to Design.
  12. Create a layout for the report as follows:
  1. Add Valve List as the title for the report in B4.
  2. Select the area A4 to D4, fill color with Aqua and set the font color to White.
  3. Select the area A5 to D7, fill color with Dark Blue and set the font color to White.
  4. Select the area A8 to D10, fill color with Tan and set the font color to Black.
  5. Select the area A8 to D10 and add outside border using Ctrl + Shift + &.
  6. Add the IFS logo to cell A4.
  1. Click Report Book and then click Parameters.
  2. Create a new parameter and save it as follows:

  3. Click Sheet.
  4. Click the Filter Criteria tab.

  6. In the Operator field select = equals using the List of Values. 
  7. In the Condition field select the PlantName parameter using the List of Values.
  8. Click Execute and then click OK.
