Course Description for Asset Design

This course gives you a basic understanding of IFS/Asset Design, with emphasis on the Asset Design Basics and Asset Design processes. It covers the definition of the basic data needed in the Asset Design, Asset Engineering and Asset Procurement phases to come, and the key concepts, as they pertain to designing a plant.

It is also concerned most with registering design objects, establishing the design and sending design object data to potential suppliers via specification sheets. It is also concerned with creating design parts that meet the design object requirements, and establishing document and project connections.

Course Length

The estimated time to complete this course is 10 hours and 30 minutes.

Target Audience

This course was designed primarily for system administrators who will be configuring IFS/Asset Design for other users to register and maintain design data. It is also an suitable to serve as the entry point for all IFS/Asset Design users.

Basic Data and Requirements

This chapter covers the basic data that is used in IFS/Asset Design that stems from the Asset Design Basics process. This includes defining standards, plants and related basic data, class related basic data, navigation related basic data and project related basic data.
