Course Description for Administer Schedules and Rules
In this course, you will learn how to administer wage codes, working hours schedules,
compensation definitions, and work hour rules.
You will also learn how to set up time balances and manage the availability planning functions.
Course Length
The estimated time to complete the total course is 14 hours.
The estimated time to complete the Basic course is 2 hours.
The estimated time to complete the Intermediate course is 8 hours (includes the
Basic course).
The estimated time to complete the Advanced course is 4 (2+2) hours.
Target Audience
This course is designed primarily for HR Administrators. The
Working Hours Schedules and the Availability Planning lessons are aimed also to
Supervisors and personnel involved in job planning.
Administer Schedules and Rules
This chapter includes the following lessons:

By the end of the Work Hour Rules lesson, you should know how

- Day Flex Rules.

By the end of the Compensation Definitions lesson, you should know how to:
- Create compensation definitions for various increments.
- Create compensation definitions for emergency service duty.
- Create compensation definitions for "public holiday

- Assign compensation definitions to employees.
By the end of the Time Balances lesson, you should know how to:
- Set up a flextime balance.
- Set up a compensatory leave balance.
- Set up a switch time balance.
- Set up balance of type Other.
- Convert time from one balance to the other.
- Perform automatic reconciliation of a balance.
By the end of the Advanced Overtime Calculation lesson, you should know:
- How to set the Replace Normal Clocking parameter, and how it affects the calculation of the time result.
- How to use the Flexible Work Time parameter, and how it affects the calculation of the time result.
- How to handle the periodic calculation of overtime.
By the end of the Availability Planning lesson, you should know:
- How to create a deviation cycle for an employee.
- How to add deviation days and planned absence for an employee.
- The order in which the various working hours information (schedules, substitute schedules
and deviations) is prioritized.
Prerequisites
Before starting the lessons in this chapter, you should know how
to navigate in IFS Applications. It is an advantage if you also know how to create
wage codes. You can learn this in the Administering
