Initial Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercises is that the instructor will use them for demonstrating the basic functionality in assembling and testing a project delivery product, which entails:

These Initial Exercises are intended for instructor use.

If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity.  If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site. 

Issuing Items to the Delivery Project

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality for issuing items to the delivery project through the shop order of the top item.

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown.

  1. Open the Project Product window.
  2. Query (F3) for project PD–00 (Project Delivery Template Project).
  3. Click the Supply tab and then the Procured tab.
  4. Verify that a shop order has been created for the top item, 20–100 (Engine 1600).
  5. In the Shop Order State field, check the status of the shop order. Note that the shop order has already been received in inventory. Therefore, the materials have already been issued through the shop order.
  6. Click the Items tab.
  7. Select one of the component parts, 20–110 (Engine Block 1600). Right-click and then click Issue from Inventory. Note that this option appears dimmed because the part has already been issued from inventory. You can verify this by looking at the values in the Quantity Issued and Date Issued fields.

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality for issuing the top project item.

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown.

  1. Open the Project Product window.
  2. Query (F3) for project PD–00 (Project Delivery Template Project).
  3. Click the Items tab.
  4. Select the top item, 20–100 (Engine 1600). Right-click and then click Issue from Inventory. Note that this option appears dimmed because the part has already been issued from inventory. You can verify this by looking at the values in the Quantity Issued and Date Issued fields.

Realizing the Top Project Item

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality for realizing the top project item.

Project Product/Items

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown.

  1. Open the Project Product window.
  2. Query (F3) for project PD–00 (Project Delivery Template Project).
  3. Click the Items tab.
  4. Select the top item, 20–100 (Engine 1600). Right-click and then click Status Realize. Note that this option appears dimmed because the top item is already has the Realized status. You can verify this by looking at the values in the Status and Date Realized fields.
