Identify Maintenance Opportunity and Scope

Explanation

This activity is used to identify maintenance opportunity and scope. You will need to prioritize pending tasks from the pool of maintenance actions maturing within the horizon defined in the maintenance plan and modifications along with all pending faults, life limited parts (LLPs) and condition limits. Mandatory modifications and critical faults are typical examples of tasks that must be prioritized. How much time you have available to perform the maintenance must also be considered when you plan your tasks.

As a basis for decisions concerning task distribution, use query windows and reports to summarize:

When this activity is finished, you can generate a work order to a selected workshop.

Prerequisites

Pending tasks must exist.

Procedure

Maintenance opportunity and scope can be identified from the Task Distribution window, the Serial Maintenance window, the Due Information per Task window and the Maintenance Order/Assign Tasks/Pending Tasks tab. The following procedure is performed within the Task Distribution window, although the procedure begins from the Pending Tasks window.

  1. Open the Pending Tasks window.
  2. Query (F3) for the pending tasks and select the serial for which you will identify maintenance opportunity and scope.
  3. Right-click and click Task Distribution to open the Task Distribution window.
  4. Prioritize the pending tasks. Consider which task should be performed first and how much time you have to perform the maintenance. Right-click a task and select an option to view details for that task.
  5. Once your tasks are prioritized, you can create a work order.
