Explanation

This activity is used to update the earliest unlimited supply date (EUSD) based on different calendars setup on either supplier address or the ship via code for a parts primary supplier. If no calendar is defined on supplier address or ship-via code the default distribution calendar set on site will be used. By updating the EUSD, different planning activities like Available to Promise, order proposal will consider the calendar settings on supplier and ship-via code when it comes to purchase supplies.

In order to have a continuous consideration of calendar changes and the fact that this changes from one day to another, it is necessary to set this up as a scheduled task that will do the update of EUSD once per day.

The date calculations and considerations done in this background job are the same that are done when creating a purchase order line for a part using the primary supplier, default delivery address and default ship via code for that address.

Prerequisites

This activity requires that an inventory part has a default primary supplier defined. There should also be a default delivery address defined for which there optionally could be a specific address and a ship-via code with a specific calendar defined.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• The EUSD for the parts for which this job is triggered should be updated with a date which is calculated considering calendars used for primary supplier and ship-via code.
• Note that if the Backdate Allowed check box is cleared there will not be an update of EUSD made if the suggested value lies prior to the already entered value. This makes it possible to make exceptions related to that parts have a temporary delay (prolonged lead time).

Procedure

You can either update EUSD directly (Procedure A), or schedule the task as a background job (Procedure B).

A. Update EUSD directly:

1. Open the Update Earliest Unlimited Supply Date dialog box.
2. In the Site field, select the site for which you want to run the calculation. Use the List of Values to select from available sites. It is also possible to use wildcards.
3. If you want to calculate the EUSD for parts having a specific supplier (primary), select the supplier in the Supplier field. Use the List of Values to select from available suppliers. If no supplier is selected, the calculation is done for all parts in the site.
4. If you want to calculate the EUSD for parts that have a primary supplier default address with a specific country, select that country in the Supplier Country field. Use the List of Values to select from available countries. If no country is selected, the calculation is done for all parts in the site. Should not be used in combination with supplier.
5. If you want to calculate the EUSD for parts that have a primary supplier default address with a specific ship via code, select that ship via code in the Ship via Code field. Use the List of Values to select from available ship-via codes. If no ship-via code is selected, the calculation is done for all parts in the site. Should not be used in combination with supplier.
6. If you want the update of EUSD to be able to backdate previous set date you should click the check box for Allow Backdating.
7. Click OK to close the Update Earliest Unlimited Supply Date  dialog box and start the update as a background job.

B. Update EUSD via a scheduled task

1. On the Update Earliest Unlimited Supply Date  dialog box, click Schedule. The Create New Task Schedule window opens.
2. Set the relevant scheduling parameters and Save. Scheduled tasks can be seen in Scheduled Database Tasks window.
