Generate Sequencing as Sorting

Explanation

This activity is used to generate a sorting based on the dependencies defined in the Gantt chart. Since it is only possible to enter dependencies between the ELS nodes (lowest level) and not between the grouping nodes in the Gantt, sorting of grouping nodes must be defined on the relevant sub tabs in the Sorting per Grouping Criteria tab (refer to the Define Sorting per Grouping Criteria activity). This activity provides another way of sorting the ELS nodes (lowest level) and can be used instead of defining sorting per grouping criteria.

Prerequisites

To perform this activity, dependencies between ELS nodes must have been drawn in the Gantt for the template. Refer to the Define Execution Logic Structure Template activity for more information.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the sequence of the ELS nodes defined in the Gantt chart is set as the sorting of the ELS nodes in the template. The sorting number is displayed in the Execution Logic Sorting field in the Define Execution Logic Structure Template/ELS Nodes tab.

Procedure

1. Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
2. Enter, verify or modify the sequencing for ELS nodes in the Gantt tab. To enter or modify the sequencing, first right-click and click Create Dependencies Mode and then draw the necessary dependencies between the ELS nodes.
3. Right-click in the header of the window and then click Generate Sequencing as Sorting.
