Add Tag

Explanation

Use this activity to add a new tag to the configuration for the IFS/OPC Client. A tag can be of several data types and is a combination of an object and an OPC property in the OPC Server.

Prerequisites

A group must be established on the IFS/OPC client.

Procedure

1. Click the File menu and click Open.
2. Browse for and select the configuration XML file you saved with group definitions.
3. Click the New Tag button in the OPC Client toolbar (alternatively right click on a group in the OPC Configuration pane and click New Tag).
4. Click the General tab.
5. In the Name field, use the List of Values to select a tag available on the OPC Server. By default the first group will be named Tag 1.
6. In the Requested Data Type field, select the data type of this tag from the list which should match the data type for the corresponding tag in the OPC Server.
7. Click OK.
8. Click the File Menu and click Save.
