Establish Maintenance Data for a Template Structure

Explanation

This activity is used to establish operational parameters and Maintenance Group for the serial parts of a template structure. The different options available in this activity are also available as separate activities that operate on single serial parts. This activity is useful when introducing a new type of material (i.e., new part revision, new product and model) or when modifying existing template structures.

The following options are available within this activity:

Establish Maintenance Data for Template Structures

Procedure

Use the following procedure to create an operational parameter for serial parts within a template structure:

  1. Open the Establish Maintenance Data for Template Structures window and query (F3) for the template structure you want to work with.
  2. In the Oper Param list, select an operational parameter.
  3. Select the Primary Oper Param check box, if the selected operational parameter is to be the primary operational parameter. Furthermore, select either the Time Parameter or Cycle Parameter check box depending on whether this is to be the operational parameter for times or cycles.
  4. Right-click and then click Spread Suggested Data to Structure. Suggested values are updated on all the serial parts in the structure.
  5. The table (on the Template Structure tab) displays all the serial parts in the structure. You can modify the data for the selected operational parameter. For example, if one serial part does not require the suggested values, you can manually remove these values from the part.
  6. To save the changes, right-click and then click Save Operational Parameters for Parts. As a result, all the serial parts in the structure with operational parameter data will receive the new operational parameter. If Maintenance Group exist for any of the serial parts, the new operational parameter value will be updated on these Maintenance Group.

Use the following procedure to create a maintenance group for serial parts within a template structure:

  1. Open the Establish Maintenance Data for Template Structures window and query (F3) for the template structure you want to work with.
  2. Enter an ID for the new maintenance group in the Maint Group field. Enter a description for this maintenance group in the Maint Group Description field.
  3. In the Average Value Rule list, select an average value rule.
  4. Select the Preferred Maint Group check box, if the new maintenance group is to be the preferred maintenance group.
  5. Right-click and then click Spread Suggested Data to Structure. Suggested values are updated on all the serial parts in the structure.
  6. The table (on the Template Structure tab) displays all the serial parts in the structure. You can modify the data for the new maintenance group. For example, if the new maintenance group is not the preferred maintenance group for a serial part, you can clear the Preferred Maint Group check box for the part.
  7. To save the changes, right-click and then click Save Maintenance Group for Parts. As a result, all the serial parts in the structure with maintenance group data will receive the new maintenance group.

Use the following procedure to establish or modify operational parameters per maintenance group for serial parts within a template structure:

  1. Open the Establish Maintenance Data for Template Structures window and query (F3) for the template structure you want to work with.
  2. In the Oper Param list, select an operational parameter for which the data is to be updated.
  3. Enter relevant values in the Max Value, Planned Average, Historical Average and Manual Average fields.
  4. In the Sorting Code field, enter a sequence number to indicate the order of the operational parameters when operational loggings are recorded.
  5. Optionally, in the Due Info Sorting field, enter a sorting to indicate which 5 operational parameters should be displayed when due information is presented, and the order in which these parameters should be displayed.
  6. Right-click and then click Spread Suggested Data to Structure. Suggested values are updated on all serial parts in the structure.
  7. The table (on the Template Structure tab) displays all the serial parts in the structure. You can modify data for the operational parameter per maintenance group settings. For example, if the suggested data is not relevant for one serial part, these values can be manually removed from the part.
  8. To save the changes, right-click and then click Save Modified Operational Parameter Values. As a result, all the Maintenance Group for all the serial parts in the structure with operational parameter settings is updated. Note: Only Maintenance Group that have existing operational parameters will be updated.

Use the following procedure if the data to be established or modified applies to all serials in the structure and does not need to be adjusted on certain parts:

  1. Open the Establish Maintenance Data for Template Structures window and query (F3) for the template structure you want to work with.
  2. If an operational parameter is to be created, select an operational parameter from the Oper Param list.
  3. Select the Primary Oper Param check box, if the selected operational parameter is to be the primary operational parameter. Furthermore, select either the Time Parameter or Cycle Parameter check box depending on whether this is to be the operational parameter for times or cycles.
  4. If a maintenance group is to be created, enter appropriate values in the Maint Group, Maint Group Description and Average Value Rule fields.
  5. Select the Preferred Maint Group check box if the maintenance group is to be the preferred maintenance group.
  6. If you need to adjust operational parameter settings per maintenance group, specify valid values in the Max Value, Planned Average, Historical Average, and Manual Average fields.
  7. Right-click and then click Spread and Save Suggested Data to Structure. As a result,

Note: If by accident you select or type an incorrect value, and then add the value on all the parts in the table through the Spread Suggested Data to Structure option, simply select or type the correct value and use Spread Suggested Data to Structure option again to update the table.
