Define Template Part

Explanation

This activity is used to define the topmost level of a serial structure template. A template part is identified by the fact that the part number and revision of the record is the same as the top part number and revision. The template part is somewhat different from the other levels in the serial structure template and carries different information (to some extent) than the other levels in the structure.

Prerequisites

The part that is to be defined as a template part must exist as an engineering part revision.

System Effects

The topmost level in a serial structure template is established and it is possible to create its structure.
