Receive Reserved Serial Structure

Explanation

This activity is used to manually receive a reserved serial structure into inventory.

You can also receive catch-unit enabled serial parts by entering the catch quantity for each serial in addition to the quantity received.

System Effects

As a result of this action, the system receives the part at the specified inventory location. 

After receiving, the reserved serial structure is moved to Part Serial. When you enter the shop order, you can specify that it should be closed automatically, provided that the number of parts received is within the closure tolerance. If it is, the shop order is closed automatically. If you have selected manual closure, you must close the shop order after you have completed the receipt. When the shop order is closed, the remaining reserved serial numbers are removed automatically. If the shop order is customer order based and was created when a customer order line was entered, the received part is automatically reserved for the customer order line. A work in progress (WIP) transaction is created.

If the part is received on an MRO shop order, there are additional system effects based on the type of MRO order.

Procedure

From the Shop Order or Shop Orders windows:

  1. Select the shop order in Shop Orders or query the shop order in Shop Order.
  2. Right-click, then click Receive/Manual Receive to open the Receive Shop Order window.
  3. If a default inventory location does not exist for the part, select a location in the Proposed Location field. Use the List of Values to select from available inventory locations.
  4. Right-click, then click Receive Serial Parts.
  5. If you want, you can also define additional parameters to all the serials by clicking Receive Parameters.
  6. Enter the applicable values in Receive Parameters dialog and press OK. Later, If you want, you can manually change the defined values in the table.
  7. Select the serial numbers to receive.
  8. If you want to receive into another inventory location, type a new location in the Location No field.
  9. Click OK.

From the Shop Order via Receive Shop Order/Serial Inventory Receipt:

  1. Query the shop order in Shop Order.
  2. Right-click, then click Recieve/Manual Receive in Shop Order to open the Receive Shop Order window.
  3. In the Receive Shop Order window, click the Serial Inventory Receipt tab.
  4. If a default inventory location does not exist for the part, type a location in the Proposed Location field. Use the List of Values to select from available inventory locations.
  5. Create a new record in the Serial Inventory Receipt tab.
  6. In the Location No field, select an inventory location to receive the part. Use the List of Values to select from available locations.
  7. Type the serial number for the part to be received in the Serial No field.
  8. You can also define the following fields W/D/R No, Expiration Date, Availability Control ID, Condition Code and Catch Quantity depending on your preference.
  9. Save.

From the Receive Shop Order directly:

  1. Select the shop order for which you want to receive the completed parts in the Order No list.
  2. If a default inventory location does not exist for the part, select a location in the Proposed Location field. Use the List of Values to select from available inventory locations.
  3. Right-click, then click Receive Serial Parts.
  4. If you want, you can also define additional parameters to all the serials by clicking Receive Parameters.
  5. Enter the applicable values in Receive Parameters dialog and press OK. Later, If you want, you can manually change the defined values in the table.
  6. Select the serial numbers to receive.
  7. If you want to receive into another inventory location, select a new location in the Location No field.
  8. Click OK.

From the Receive Shop Order/Serial Inventory Receipt directly:

  1. Select the shop order for which you want to receive the completed parts in the Order No list.

  3. Create a new record in the Serial Inventory Receipt tab.
  4. In the Location No field, select an inventory location to receive the part. Use the List of Values to select from available locations.

  6. You can also define the following fields W/D/R No, Expiration Date, Availability Control ID, Condition Code and Catch Quantity depending on your preference.
  7. Save.

From the Receive MRO Shop Order (disassembly, serial receipt):

  1. Select the shop order for which you want to receive the component parts in the Order No list.
  2. In the Received Part Source list, select the type of receipt to be performed. The normal choice will be Disassembly Products.
  3. In the Part No field, select the part to be received. The part to be received will be a real part. The list of expected products for the disassembly shop order (seen in the MRO Shop Order/Produced Part tab) displays position parts expected, and for each of these, the list of real parts that can be received for the position part.
  4. In the Serial Receipt tab, create a new line for each serial instance of a part to be received. Specify the serial number, location number and a condition code for each line of receipt.
  5. Save.

From the Receive MRO Shop Order (disassembly, non-serial receipt)

  1. Select the shop order for which you want to receive the component parts in the Order No list.
  2. In the Received Part Source list, select the type of receipt to be performed. The normal choice will be Disassembly Products.
  3. In the Part No field, select the part to be received. The part to be received will be a real part. The list of expected products for the disassembly shop order (seen in the MRO Shop Order/Produced Part tab) displays position parts expected, and for each of these, the list of real parts that can be received for the position part.
  4. In the Inventory Receipt tab, create a new line for each location instance of the part to be received. Specify the quantity, location no and condition code for each line of receipt.
  5. Save.

From the MRO Shop Order (disassembly, serial receipt by right-clicking)

  1. Select the shop order for which you want to receive the component parts in the Order No list.
  2. Right-click, then click Material Actions/Manual Receive to navigate to the Receive MRO Shop Order window. Your order will be queried automatically.
  3. In the Received Part Source list, select the type of receipt to be performed. The normal choice will be Disassembly Products.
  4. In the Part No field, select the part to be received. The part to be received will be a real part. The list of expected products for the disassembly shop order (seen in the MRO Shop Order/Produced Part tab) displays position parts expected, and for each of these, the list of real parts that can be received for the position part.
  5. In the Serial Receipt tab, create a new line for each serial instance of a part to be received. Specify the serial number, location no and condition code for each line of receipt.
  6. Save.

From the Shop Floor Workbench:

  1. Select the shop order for which you want to receive the component parts in the Order No list.
  2. Right-click, then click Receive/Manual Receive to navigate to the Receive MRO Shop Order window. Your order will be queried automatically.
  3. In the Received Part Source list, select the type of receipt to be performed. The normal choice will be Disassembly Products.

From the Receive MRO Shop Order (assembly, serial receipt)

  1. Select the shop order for which you want to receive the assembled parts in the Order No list.
  2. In the Received Part Source list, select the type of receipt to be performed. The normal choice will be Products.
  3. In the Part No field, select the part to be received. The part to be received will be a real part. The list of expected products for the assembly shop order (seen in the MRO Shop Order/Produced Part tab) displays the position part expected, and the list of real parts that can be received for the position part.
  4. In the header of the Receive MRO Shop Order window, right-click, then click either Assembly Tracking Handling/Reserve New Serial or Assembly Tracking Handling/Reserve Existing Serial to identify the serials you are planning to receive from the assembly order. In the dialog box that appears, identify the serial numbers to be received.
  5. When the serials to be received have been identified, right-click, then click Assembly Tracking Handling/Build Tracked Structure to build the as-built structure for the assembled part.
  6. Right-click, then click Assembly Tracking Handling/Receive Serial Parts to specify a location and receive the reserved serials into that location.

From the Receive MRO Shop Order (assembly, non-serial receipt)

  1. Select the shop order for which you want to receive the assembled parts in the Order No list.
  2. In the Received Part Source list, select the type of receipt to be performed. The normal choice will be Products.
  3. In the Part No field, select the part to be received. The part to be received will be a real part. The list of expected products for the assembly shop order (seen in the MRO Shop Order/Produced Part tab) displays the position part expected, and the list of real parts that can be received for the position part.
  4. In the Inventory Receipt tab, create a new line for each location instance of the part to be received. Specify the quantity, location no and condition code for each line of receipt.
  5. Save.

From the MRO Shop Order (assembly, serial receipt by right-clicking)

  1. Select the shop order for which you want to receive the component parts in the Order No list.
  2. Right-click, then click Material Actions/Manual Receive to navigate to the Receive MRO Shop Order  window. Your order will be queried automatically.
  3. In the Received Part Source list, select the type of receipt to be performed. The normal choice will be Products.
  4. In the Part No field, select the part to be received. The part to be received will be a real part. The list of expected products for the assembly shop order (seen in the MRO Shop Order/Produced Part tab) displays the position part expected, and the list of real parts that can be received for the position part.
  5. In the header of the Receive MRO Shop Order window, right-click, then click either Assembly Tracking Handling/Reserve New Serial or Assembly Tracking Handling/Reserve Existing Serial activity to identify the serials you are planning to receive from the assembly order. In the dialog box that appears, identify the serial numbers to be received.
  6. When the serials to be received have been identified, use the Assembly Tracking Handling/Build Tracked Structure to build the as-built structure for the assembled part.
  7. Right-click, then click Assembly Tracking Handling/Receive Serial Parts to specify a location and receive the reserved serials into that location.

From the Receive MRO Shop Order (assembly, non-serial receipt)
