Merge Shop Order into Shop Order

Explanation

This activity is used to combine one or more shop orders into another shop order. This is a way to ensure that shop orders match their maximum lot size.

Prerequisites

• The shop orders being merged must be in the Planned or Released states.
• The shop orders being merged must be for the same part and site.
• The shop order into which you are merging the other shop orders must exist.
• If the parent part is manually pegged against a customer order line or a shop order, the pegging has to be removed first.

System Effects

• The system removes the selected shop order with its connected materials, operations and operation tools, since it is now a part of the shop order into which you merged it.
• The lot size for the new shop order increases and the scheduling time changes due to the larger lot size.

Procedure

To merge a shop order using the Shop Order window:

1. Open the Shop Order window.
2. Query for the shop order.
3. Right-click, point to Merges and Splits and then click Merge into Shop Order. The Merge Shop Order dialog box is opened.
4. Enter the shop order into which the selected shop order should be merged in the Order field. Use List to select from available shop orders.
5. Click OK.

To merge one or more shop orders using the Shop Orders window.

1. Open the Shop Orders window.
2. Query for the shop order(s).
3. Select the shop order(s) you want to merge into another shop order.
4. Right-click, point to Merges and Splits and then click Merge into Shop Order. The Merge Shop Order dialog box is opened.
5. Enter the shop order into which the selected shop order(s) should be merged in the Order field. Use List to select from available shop orders.
6. Click OK.

To merge a shop order using the Visualization View:

1. Open a visualizer enabled window and query for the site needed.
2. If the Data View is displayed, click Visualization View on the title bar.
3. Right-click and click Select Visualization. The Select Visualization dialog box is opened.
4. Double-click Shop Order Machine Load.
5. Right-click and click Y-Axis/Shop Order.
6. Right-click on a shop order (the horizontal inner bar) that has not been started and click Merge Shop Order to merge the shop order. The Merge Shop Order dialog box is opened.
7. Enter the shop order into which the selected shop order should be merged in the Order field. Use List to select from available shop orders.
8. Click OK.
