Enter Part Data
Explanation
This activity is used when you want to create a siteless
part, i.e., start to enter a part that, later on, will be registered as an
inventory, purchase, or sales part. This is also a way to reserve a part number
for a part that will
be used in the future.
Depending on how the part will be used, you might
have to perform one or more
of the optional steps in the Procedure section. You
can perform most of these steps later , e.g., when the part is
entered as an inventory part, but they should be performed before the part is used.
Prerequisites
- The code for the unit of measure must have been
defined in IFS/Application Base Setup, Unit Of Measure. If you are going to
assign the part to a part main group, the group must have been entered as
basic data on the IFS/Part Catalog/ Master Part/
Part Basic Data tab.
- If you are going to assign the part to a part main
group, the group must have been entered as basic data in IFS/Part Catalog.
System Effects
- A siteless part will be created and can be used for design
purposes and for entering inventory, purchase, and sales parts at different
sites.
- If the part is a configurable part, it will be possible
to connect a configuration family to the part.
- If a site is set to use part catalog description as description for
sales/purchase/inventory part, this part description will be displayed for
the specified site and part type.
- The net weight and the net volume will be saved
under the part catalog and will be displayed under the inventory part. If
the UoM of the inventory part is different to that of the part catalog, the
appropriate conversion will be done before displaying the values under the
inventory part.
- When calculating the freight charge, weight or the
volume will always be multiplied by the entered freight factor.
