Enter Post Maintenance Intervals for Parts

Explanation

This activity is used to assign parts to the post maintenance check definition and define post maintenance intervals per part. The specified intervals will be used to generate post maintenance check tasks. A post maintenance check can be specified either as a limit for an operational parameter or as time elapsed since the repair. You also have to supply the number of days forewarning the system should use for this post maintenance check. The limit you enter determines the number of times a post maintenance check task will be created.

The purpose of a post maintenance check is to perform inspections after the modification is complied with or the fault signed off so as to ensure that no consequences are introduced. Each post maintenance check is created as a pending task as soon as the planned task date of the check is within the given number of days of forewarning. Only one check per modification or serial may be pending or running at the same time. 

Prerequisites

• A post maintenance check definition in the Preliminary status must have been defined.
• The serial part must be defined with a valid operational parameter.
• Maintenance time units must have been defined.

System Effects

• The post maintenance check definition is valid for the assigned parts.
• All existing revisions of the assigned parts is added automatically to the post maintenance check definition. These revisions can be viewed or updated in the Assign Part Revisions tab.
• The post maintenance check definition can be activated.
• The intervals defined for the assigned parts will be used to generate post maintenance checks on faults and modifications reported on the valid serials.
• If an interval is modified on an active post maintenance check definition, this change will be recorded in the journal for the definition.

Procedure

1. Open the Post Maintenance Check Definition window.
2. Search for the required post maintenance check definition that is in the Preliminary status.
3. Click the Intervals for Parts tab.
4. Create a new record (F5).
5. In the Part Number field, enter the part number for which the definition is valid. Use the List of Values to select a value.
6. Enter the post maintenance interval for the part. It can either be an operational parameter interval or calendar interval or both.

• To enter an operational parameter interval, enter relevant values in the Interval, Operational Parameter and Interval Limit fields.
• To enter a calendar interval, enter relevant values in the Calendar Interval, Calendar Unit, Calendar Limit and Calendar Limit Unit fields.

7. In the Days Forewarning field, enter the number of days forewarning required for the post maintenance check.
8. Optionally, enter additional information on the task in the Task Remark field.
9. Save the record (F12).
