Define Manufacturing Tool Type

Explanation

Use this activity to view, enter, and maintain definitions of manufacturing tool types. All tool definitions in the Manufacturing Tool window must be linked to a tool type. This allows you to group tools by similar characteristics.

There are no prerequisites.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• You create a manufacturing tool type record.
• Specific tools can be grouped by tool type.'
• The tool type is available from the List of Values to link to tools in the Manufacturing Tool window.

Procedure

1. Open the Manufacturing Standard Basic Data window.
2. Click the Manufacturing Tool Type tab.
3. Click New.
4. In the Tool Type column, enter the name of the tool type you want to create.
5. Enter a description of the tool type in the Tool Type Description column.
6. Enter any additional notes, if desired, in the Notes column. Double-click in this field to open the Note Text Editor, to simplify working with larger amounts of text.
7. Save the changes (F12).
