Compare Transfer and Manufacturing Structures
Explanation
Use this activity to see the similarities or differences between a designed part and a
specific manufacturing structure alternate. The top level components of the design
structure and manufacturing structure alternates are displayed at the same time in a split
window. The All button populates the tables with the entire top level of both
structures. The Equal button populates them with the portions of both structures
that are identical. The Difference button populates them with the portions of
both structures that are different. The equal and difference comparisons are based on
component parts and quantities per assembly.
Note: You can compare only one level of a structure at a time.
Prerequisites
This activity requires that the structures of the parts be entered.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, the system enables you to compare design and
manufacturing structures.

Procedure
- In the As-Designed group box, select the as-designed part in the Part No
list box.
- In the Manufacturing group box, select the manufacturing part in the
Part
No list box.
- Click All to see all components in both structures. You must visually compare
the structures to see the differences.
- Click Equal to see components that are identical in both structures. To qualify
as identical, the components must be the same part and have the same quantities per
assembly in the structures.
- Click Difference to see the components that differ between the structures,
i.e., the components that exist in one structure but not in the other. Some of the parts
that are shown as different may be the same part but have different quantities per
assembly.
- Click Tree to see the results from the all, equal, or difference functions in a
tree structure.
