Template Transfer History and Log

A Template Transfer History is written to record details about transferring VIM serial structure templates to a site.

A Template Transfer History includes information on whether the template structure transfer process failed or succeeded. This information, combined with logging features, can be used to verify and resolve transfer-related issues as needed.

In IFS/Complex Assembly MRO, you can use the template structure transfer features to pull a template structure from the VIM holding table and create the appropriate records for a given site. Part Revision, Part Cost, Manufacturing Structure Header and Manufacturing Routing Header records (which are normally created when you create an inventory part) are created. A history record is written, indicating that the transfer of the structure took place for a particular site on a given date, and that it phases in on a user-supplied date.

The records in the holding table and the manufacturing records are scanned for any possible problems. If there are problems that are classified as errors, the log file is created (it contains all the error, warning, and informational messages) but the transfer does not take place. A history record is written stating that the transfer failed. If there are no errors, but there are warnings and informational messages, then warnings and informational messages are written to the log file, and the transfer does take place. Additionally, a history record is written stating that the transfer was successful.

Messages in the logging record details enable you to go directly to the source of the problem. If source problems of type error are fixed, you may initiate another template structure transfer process.
