Enter Books for Object

Explanation

This activity is used to enter information on books for a fixed asset. If a book is selected as a rotable pool book, you can only define depreciation methods based on acquisition value with depreciation not allowed below depreciable basis. 

Prerequisites

Before information can be entered in the Books tab, the following must have been completed:

• Information must have been entered in the General tab.
• The object type must be Normal, Not Depreciable or Planned.
• The books and the depreciation methods must have been entered. (Note: Depreciation methods need not exist in the system in order to carry out this activity for objects of which the object type is Not Depreciable.)

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the book and depreciation method entered for an object can be used when a depreciation proposal or a depreciation plan is created.

Procedure

Use the following procedure to enter information in the Books tab:

1. Open the Object window and query for the object for which you want to enter a book.
2. Open the Books tab. Default values are displayed, depending on the object group. (Note: No default values will be displayed for the objects of which the object type is Not Depreciable).
3. Change the information for the book and depreciation method or add a new book and method, if appropriate.
4. Save when finished.
