Enter Characteristics Values for Part
Explanation
Use this activity to register characteristic values for an engineering part. After you
enter attribute values connected to the characteristic class, you can later calculate
these values on any level in the product structure. The Characteristics Rollup
Calculation, for example, calculates the total weight of a part. The attribute values can
also be used when searching for a part. If you use the function Best Fit Search, you can
search for parts that fulfill the specified attribute values.
Prerequisites
- A characteristics (technical) class must be connected to the engineering part.
- The engineering part must exist.
- The characteristic class template must exist.
System Effects
- Characteristics values are registered for the part.
- You can use the Characteristics Rollup Calculation.
- You can use Best Fit Search to find the part by defining attribute values.
