Translate Basic Data in Translation Manager

Explanation

Use this activity to perform translations of basic data attributes in Translation Manager in IFS Enterprise Explorer.

Basic data attributes can, as all other translatable attributes, be translated using the Translation Manager. This work is normally performed by the IFS personnel during work with a new release or service pack.  

The following support for Basic Data Translation is available in Translation Manager:

• When Logical Units are built using the Build dialog in the Component Overview window, then Basic Data attributes will be retrieved for selected Logical Units from the Server Runtime Database and defined in Localization. 
• The Attributes window is used to perform the translations. All Basic Data Translations are marked with Sub Type Basic Data.
• The Load dialog in the Component Overview window can be used to load Basic Data translations from the Server Runtime Dictionary.

Prerequisites

• Translatable Basic Data attributes and associated texts must have been defined in the Server Runtime Database, normally during the installation/upgrade.
• Translation Manager must be granted to the user.

Procedure

1. Make sure that all necessary components have been installed.
2. Open the Translation Manager in IFS Enterprise Explorer.
3. Build a component and make sure that one or more Logical Units are selected (or the complete component). Basic Data attributes and related PROG text are built, if available, for all selected Logical Units.
4. Perform the translation work in the Attribute window. Sub Type "Basic Data" defines Basic Data translations.
5. If the Server Runtime Database contains Basic Data translations in a language that is not available elsewhere, then the Load dialog in the Component Overview window can be used to load these translations into the Localization database.
