A work order is regarded as historical as soon as its status is set to Finished or Canceled. Use Finished status to indicate that a work order was executed and completed, and use Canceled status to indicate that the work order was not executed or completed.
Before the status can be set to Finished a completion date must be entered on the work order, and all postings must be authorized. If you have transactions that should not be invoiced on a work order which has a customer ID defined (service order), you will need to change the status on these lines to Not Invoicable, or invoice the work order's posting lines. This can be done in the Transfer to Customer Order window.
Also, if you have created a purchase requisition, but not turned it into a purchase order you will first need to delete the purchase requisition lines and header manually.
Any material that was reserved but not issued on the work order will automatically be unreserved when changing the status to Finished.
All information entered when preparing and reporting in a work order is saved on the historical work order. This allows you to use the work order history as a source of information which can be helpful when creating new work orders as well as doing various kinds of analysis.
You can view the historical work order information, but you cannot make any changes. If you must add or change information on a historical work order, or if you would like to copy the work order into a new work order, you must reopen the work order first. (To reopen a historical work order, (right-click and then click Reopen in the appropriate windows.) When you have reopened the work order you will be able to find it when you query for active work orders. A reopened, separate work order will receive the status Work Done, and you can even reverse the status to Started and then Released, if desired.
When the work order has been reopened you can register time, issue material etc, as well as copying the work order. When the necessary adjustments have been done and the work order is saved you can change the status to Finished again.
The work order history is used in IFS/Maintenance, and in IFS/Service Management.
