Explanation
Use this activity to configure your user settings. The following user settings can be configured.
- Local check-out path for electronic documents. A value is required to check out a document locally.
- The external viewer used to view drawings.
- The external redline application used to mark changes within a drawing.
- Determine if a local file is deleted from disk after it is initially checked in.
- Determine if files of type read-only will be overwritten by files with the same name.
- Determine the Document type (e.g., View Copy, Original) of the file to open when viewing or printing a document.
Prerequisites

System Effects
- If the Local Check-out Path field does not have a value,
the first time you check out a document the system will create a
folder named IFS under the user's default documents folder in
Windows, and set that folder as the value for Local Check-out
Path. The user can change the value at any time.
- User settings are restricted to a user name and the computer on
which they are configured. If you move to another computer, even
though you log in with your usual user name, you may be working
with non-configured or different user settings. Reconfigure your
user settings using the procedure in this activity.
- If you access IFS/Document Management through a server, e.g.,
Citrix or Terminal Services Client, you may log on to one of
many servers. The server you access may not have your user
settings configuration. Reconfigure your user settings using the
procedure in this activity.
- You can configure the settings so that files that have been
specified as read-only will be overwritten when viewing,
printing or mailing other files with the same file title.
- You can configure a Document Type (e.g., View Copy, Original) to open when viewing or
printing a document. This setting is saved in the User Profile of the
IFS Enterprise Explorer client.
